WES will review your facility’s overall emissions and assist you in development and implementation of the most cost effective compliance strategy.  WES offers a full range of services to assist you in complying with the Area Source rule, including:

  • Identification of your facility’s classification and subcategory
  • Filing of initial notifications
  • Compliance services for work practice standards (boiler tune-ups)
  • Development of site specific testing and monitoring plans
  • Performance of energy assessments
  • Initial setup of reporting and record keeping procedures to ensure ease of compliance for owners over time

WES has a history of providing energy assessments and audits for industrial and commercial clients, and identifying practical projects providing energy savings, operating cost reductions, and emission reductions.  WES Energy Assessments satisfy EPA Area Source rule requirements and typically include:

  • An onsite equipment inspection and evaluation including:
    • A visual inspection and combustion analysis
    • An evaluation of operation and maintenance procedures
    • A complete inventory of the major components of the system as well as systems using energy provided by this equipment (e.g. absorption chillers, steam turbines, process heaters, etc.)
    • A review of original engineering and architectural plans
    • A review of maintenance logs and fuel usage
    • A summary of current operation and performance
  • Development of the specific energy savings measures including:
    • Recommendations on current equipment operation and maintenance procedures to improve performance
    • Conceptual design and specification of potential equipment upgrades and modifications that could provide energy savings
  • Analysis of energy savings measures including:
    • Detailed description of the benefit of each energy savings measure
    • Cost estimate for equipment upgrades and modifications
    • Total project financial analysis to identify payback
  • A report detailing the findings of the assessment

WES utilizes state of the art equipment to provide a detailed understanding of you facility’s energy needs.  Capabilities include non-invasive monitoring of Btu usage for hot water and steam systems, current and voltage monitoring, and flue gas/boiler efficiency monitoring.  WES’s equipment includes the Flexim Fluxus F601 and Testo Model 340 Flue Gas Analyzer.

WES offers follow up engineering support services for cost effective energy savings projects identified as part of the EPA required Energy Assessments.  These services include: design, permitting, owner’s representative, and construction management services to ensure the maximum project benefit is achieved.
